WKM (wookong) hex motor cut out - mid flight reconfiguration to quad (safety)

I recently received a reply to a s800 video.

Here is the comment:
"With a 6 you can have one motor stop working, then with the latest firmware WKM will disable the oposite motor and turn the rig into a quad so you can land it. I'd only ever go 8 if I had to pick up a heavy RED camera otherwise its a waste".

Can anyone confirm this WKM firmware?

Any offers to show this process?
Can anyone "gutsy" pilots fly/hover, then land, unplug one ESC or motor etc., and fly again immediately with no trim or hocus pocus all in one video?

-very curious!
Thank you

Last week we had a propadapter which had got loose and it fell of with the prop. I was able to land the copter no problem, only a ver slight lean to the side with the missing prop. This was on a wookong with latest firmware in normal hexa config.

Thank you.

This was on a wookong with latest firmware in normal hexa config.

So the new firmware "IS" ready for the loss on a hex?
Did it do the rumored opposing motor cut-off as the guy stated this new firmware can do?

Does a motor cut out, ESC cut-out or loss of prop all fall in the same category to the Wookong's electronics?
-I don't think the wookong knows when a prop is gone....the electronics are still functioning. hmmm?
Is that correct?

The octo configuration looks like it did not even miss a beat in that video!
I thought the wookong was for 6 motor max only, unless the 2 aux ports are utilized.
Making a 6 fly like an 8 sound like a "rig" even if it works.
Is this wookong octo "rig" really ok to be doing, even if it works at first?

Sorry so many questions, but that is our sum of paychecks in the air.

Don't know if it totally cut the opposing engine. Was in a bit of a hurry to get it on the ground :p
The wookong suppports octo config but you will have to use sbus or the soon to be supported ppm.

Are you near Ohio Hugy? just wondering.
Keep us posted on your experiences.
Thanks

I don't think Holland is that close to ohio. I hope to not have to test this any further. Seeing a prop fall of midflight is scary enough.

This is interesting. I kept my WKM on firmware 5.02. My flat hexacopter crashed when a new carbon fiber prop snapped mid flight. The WKM under 5.02 could not recover. I heard a loud snap and the hexacopter spiraled out of control. I use the setting that cuts motors off if the craft tilt angle exceeds 45 degrees. I hope the new firmware is quick to compensate for a loss of a motor.

What about gains settings? Do you think having tight gains would help WKM recover faster in the event of a motor, prop, esc loss under the new firmware? My craft had no chance to recover once the prop snapped. And I wasn't carrying any extra weight of a camera.

I like the Youtube redundancy video. I do know that losing a prop mid flight is a different experience than taking off on the ground with one missing. The Octo didn't miss a beat and I would expect that much in the air.
