Completely my fault, one of them packs that got left on a ground station too long. When i went to charge it was 6 volts, 3s...... got it up to 7v on 2s settings, switched to a 3s input and about a half hour later she shot fire a few feet a few times in the kitchen and made a bit of smoke. i had it outside like that by the time the fire alarm 10 feet from it went off...... live and learn, got a couple more packs i'm gonna replace asap that have lived a similar life... my flight packs are babied but the ground station packs are abused, gotta change my ways

I looked at the attachment, before I read your post - I thought it was a bird or something feathered... Ha!

good stuff, i'll have to try one of them on my rig and see how it goes. the footprint is great..... do they just plug into a wall outlet to charge? if one would fit the radio, the multipole voltage outputs is baddo for an ezuhf on a radio like mine that runs 5v,,,,,ezuhf on 12v, away we go.....

thanks

When I built my GCS, I was of course planning on using LiPo, because... that's the only battery available right? My batteries are quite built-in and inaccessible, so I had to figure out how to make the balance plug accessible, etc.

Then I realized... wait a minute... this thing is staying on the ground, why make life difficult? I bought 16 AA 2200mAH NiMh batteries and soldered up 2 8-cell packs, for a total of 4400mAh. I never need to look at them, I just leave the box on a trickle charger until it's time to fly.

Just out of curiosity, what is the advantage of those Anker packs? They are also LiPo? Don't they have the same problem?

Thanks. I wanted something rugged and simple, built specifically to fly Arducopter. Every button has a function, and every function has a button. No extra switches to confuse the operator. And ergonomically laid out. The only issue really is that it's actualy 90% empty space in the bottom. I have to figure out what to do with it! :)

If I could find a small (7-10") super bright LCD display I'd build-in a computer to run Mission Planner.
