What type OSD do you have? I am glad you found the problem and I take it the monitor is fine.
Along the same lines-I had a problem with the osd image showing on the monitor but no video and this happened in one out of 8 flights. Finally found the problem with a connection in a jst connector. I looked for weeks before I found it. Now I solder my connections.

I have a miminosd micro. Yes the monitor is fine except that display is shifted leaving a physical gap between the face of the display and the basil on the left edge. It works fine, but the guys at RMRC are sending me a new one with a box and shipping label to send the defective one back.....they really are a good outfit. I solder those that are practical.....I use connectors so that I can removed the top plate easily
