Hotroder69- Welcome.

I have one of these models and I like it. They come in two versions: Version "A" the Tx antenna is hardwired to the board so if you want to change Tx modules to other Tx protocol modules you have to do some modifications to the antenna wire which apparently is pretty straightforward, and the "B" version which I have where the TX antenna is fake and the real antenna is located on Tx module that fits inside the back compartment of the Tx. Other Tx protocol modules with their antennas plug right in.

My wife is not excited about R/C stuff either.

These are the same as the Hobby King 9X, cheap and do lots of stuff pretty well but for MR's you might find them a little lacking in available three way switches, you can get around many of the short comings but you do need to fiddle it a bit and maybe do some upgrading.

And my wife is fine with me doing my RC stuff as long as she can do her art stuff, great arrangement as far as I am concerned.
