As I am a noob I have searched the web and some people say with a naza controller on first flight you get the flip of death, has anyone tried training gear like you would use on helicopter.

Shouldn't be a requirement to use training gear as per Single Rotors (SRs). It's all in the setup of Naza. Take your time to follow the instructions (which are written well for a Chinese firm) and then for your first flight stick in Atti or GPS mode. If you make sure you have not lateral movement on landing you should be golden to get to the air. These things are a whole heap-load easier to fly than the SRs

As long as it's all set correctly that shouldnt happen. Keep away from obvious areas of interference. fly in tall soft grass your first few times. Bring a beach towel to throw over the heli if things go crazy. Still the best safety net to date for an out of control heli on the ground. In the air there's not much you can do if you have no control other than run and pray. Always check everything with the props off for your first tests.
