Totaled new F450

I was flying low doing stick practice and a big gust of wind hit my F450 slamming it into a tree trunk at full speed. The top part of the copter hit square and when I again tried to fly it, I found is wobbles and is highly unstable. I think 1 motor must have buster a bearing and god knows the condition of the NAZA. I have trashed the 450 into the dumpster at the store. I have decided just to order a new one with new parts 100%. I do not have any repair skills so it was my best option. My new F450 NAZA should be here this week and I will start over and stay far from trees. I sure am glad I didnt install all my video stuff as of yet.

shame you are not going to repair it! i wish i was your dumpster;)
I don't have the repair skills it is much easier for me to just buy a new one. The F450 hit the tree hard, no props were broken. I then set it back down and started it up again. If flew but would wobble like jello with every stick movement. I think 1 of the motors was struck and may have damages the bearings in that motor. I don't know about the Naza I could have damaged the gyro, I guess that also could have made it wobble. It flew but the wobbling was bad. I decided since I have no way to really find the problem and fix it, it would be cheaper to just replace it.(money I have) I just tossed it along with all its electronics rx and all in the store dumpster and ordered a new one when I got home. This way I will know it will fly right.

all those little parts can sometimes be modified and used in other ways at a later date. put a big box somewhere in your basement and put the wrecked bit in there, it might save you a trip to the hobby store or keep you working late at night sometime.

Sorry to hear of your crash.

can you post a link to a google map showing the exact location of the dumpster? it may still be there and awaiting rescue!

i admit it, I'm a lowly scrounger.

I think they will be emptying the store dumpsters this morning around 9am. The quad is in the dumpster behind the Fry's supermarket on Oracle in Oro Valley Arizona. I don't know what anyone would want with a wobbly flying Naza F450 but that's where it is anyway. Here is a post crash video I took just after the crash. You will see the wobble I was talking about. With every stick movement the 450 quivers like jello http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SwJuSJn4HoM

What if it was just the tape holding the naza down that came lose and was causing the wobble? Even if it was a bad motor bearing, it's 4 tiny screws and 3 tiny bullet connectors to change out. Did you at least take off the props? Guess some folks just have money, sigh...

That looks to me like bad vibration. All thats wrong with it is a bent motor shaft.

No I removed nothing I figured after that tree hit that 450 was going to be nothing but trouble. As for the money I married a rich woman that likes to keep me spoiled and happy.

I grew up in Phoenix, my wife's from Hawaii and the one time I took her down there the heat about killed her... or maybe it was me constantly saying "at least it's a dry heat" that almost killed her.

part of the fun of RC is the repairing aspect as well as the building. destroying and tossing = stupid.
That's not nice! I had fun building my F450, and I will have fun doing it again. Having broken junk laying around my wifes clean home now thats stupid (menopause).

Tell her the only way you'll be happy is with a cinestar 8, I'll send a prepaid ups box with my address, you could be my new bestest friend.
