TM 1000 binding

Hey guys I've run into a wall and need some guidance. I've tried everything I can think and can't get my new TM1000 telemetry module to bind with my DX7S. I am using an AR8000 receiver which binds fine.

The process in the manual says:
-Connect the bind port on the TM to the bind port on the RX
-hold down the bind button on the TM while you power on the RX (all components now have blinking lights indicating bind mode)
-hold down the bind button on the TX while you power it up.

Am I missing something? The TX keeps re-binding with the RX but not the TM. Any thoughts?

Just keep the one cable comming from the TM 1000 to the RX connected. Nothing else. No bind plug. Power up while pressing the button on the TM1000. Both lights should be blinking.
Power the TX while pressing the bind button and keep it pressed until the TX reboots. You need to have the TX at least 2 meters away from the RX.

Thanks redridinghood. I didn't realize that there was a minimum distance away I needed to be to bind but your advice was confirmed with the guys over at Horizon Hobby. Unfortunately, the TM still didn't bind even when disconnecting everything else. I got all of the lights to blink like they were in bind mode but that's it, the TM wouldn't bind.

I ended up calling over to Horizon Hobby who walked me through the process. Unlike the instructions that came with the TM, HH suggested I insert the bind plug that came with the RX into the bind port on the RX and run the data port from the TM over to any other port on the RX (I used the Ale port). By doing this I was able to bind both the RX and the TM together which worked perfectly. Just wanted to follow up in case anyone else ever runs into this.

Just wanted to follow back up with a question. I have the telemetry now showing the starting voltage at around 12. My battery is a 3s 11.1v 5000MaH. I'm sure it is probably my amateur misunderstanding but wanted to check with the group. Any thoughts?
