Hi all,

Ok where to begin I'm looking into buying a Tarot fy-680 with the view to using a sony Nex5 and brushless gimbal, after ringing around and speaking to some vendors here in the uk all i am getting is lots of sighs and sucking of air over teeth followed by oh you need a droidworx/ dji s800 frame to lift a sony Nex5.

Ok so i will put this to you guy's and ask if anyone of you here use's this frame i have seen footage of this frame in action and from what i have seen its been pretty darn good footage, my concern is what motors, props and esc should i be using if i go this route and has anyone got recommendations also for a gimbal to use? Or should i just scrap the idea and go spend as these vendors suggest large amounts of money on just the frame?.

ps i am not a pro nor am i Rothschild this is purely for my own amusement and not for hire reward.

kind regards
Mick

If that is the response you are getting I would say that they don't have much experience scratch building airframes. Set up correctly this is going to be one of the most Kick A$$ airframes you fly but there are some things you should consider. In order to get a "ton" of flight time you should consider a bigger rig (I would go with the RC Timer 800 clone). BUT I have one of these frames that carries a Nex5 with an rc timer three axis gimbal and can get 10-15 minutes of flight no problem with a NAZA v2 controller. You really need to pair your motors, ESC, and props to get good efficiency and lift for this to be a great rig for you, but there is no reason it can't do the job! The one thing you will need to consider into your price is either Tarot retracts, DIY retracts, OR taller landing gear. I would recommend this frame hands down!

Hi TheUFGadget,

thanks for your reply the frame is second hand and comes setup for a gopro but i want to use a better camera as im now fed up with the fisheye effect hence the Nex5 which seems to be the camera of choice due to size weight and footage quality landing gear is taken care of by droidworx so a 2 axis gimbal is needed not 3 axis.

What motors esc's and props would make this frame sing its currently using dji opto esc's cant remember the motor's or prop's
