I'm looking at getting my first quad-copter, and I was hooked on the DJI F450. It seems strong, has loads of cargo/assembly space and is a kit, so I know everything works. The Talon V2, however, would give me the opportunity to assemble my own quad, giving me more experience. It's also has longer arms (and looks wicked) but doesn't seem to have the generous assembly space that the F450 has. I like having things organized, so the F450's integrated Power Distribution Board seems like a huge bonus, where as the Carbon Fiber tubes of the Talon seem like a great place to store motor cables. And while I'm talking about power, do I need a BEC for my receiver?
My goal with this build is to take up to 2 km flights (one way is fine) using FPV. I also want to do some areal filming, so I've selected the NAZA controller. I know that if I ever want to upgrade to a F550, I can use the arms, ESCs, motors and possibly rotors with that new build, whereas if I get the Talon I'll have to start anew without the frame arms. I'm using a 1.5 W 900Mhz for FPV.
