I wonder what Canon can do with the Rebel line of cameras to compete with this?

Looks like this is going to be a great camera. Maybe someone like Jes who knows more about cameras can chim in, but I think the Canon Rebel is more in the DSLR (semi-professional) range. This new sony camera is falling more into the new cross breed of camera which is bigger then your point and shoot yet smaller then the DSLR. I think the Canon Powershot line of cameras would be more in line with the Sony Nex then the rebel.

don't the capabilities of the Sony exceed the Canon though with the exception being the range of lenses available for the Canon?
