Hey all,
I am an undergraduate senior Mechanical Engineering student, and myself and two other classmates are looking to purchase a drone and modify it to allow for water testing as part of our Senior Design project.
For this we need a drone that can carry approximately 5-10 pounds of testing equipment and samples (100-250ml of water) in a 10-20 minute flight time (~.5mi). It will also need to be flyable by GPS, line-of-sight or by video (or a combination of the three) to and from a start location at which it will be able to descend at selected points and get the water we need.
We have a budget of $4000-5000 for it to be ready to go for us to fly, work on and test as soon as we get it in hand. We have a narrowed our search to a couple but we figured that this would be a great source to help us with the yes, no or maybe part of the feasibility. if there is a better choice that would better match our needs, please help us out! We are all new to this field and are looking to make a good final project!
