Return to home "direction"

My question is... When RTH or failsafe is initiated shouldn't the F450 after raising to 20meters turn and fly "forward" to home? Mine raises but then just goes home in whatever direction it was last facing. Sideways... Etc

Thanks,
Jon

I'm pretty sure it's in the manual, and I think the distance is 60 meters from home = turn, < 60 = fly backwards home.

If you find it, let us know what the exact distance is.

It does turn forward counter clockwise before it moves too far, and heads back to you going forward. I am uploading a video now that will show the distance and altitude I used.

I searched and just can't find the info on the distance required to have the multi actually turn before heading home

Here is a pretty lame video I did Sunday. This shows the distance I had mine turn around from. I have spent thousands on various quads and octos un fortunitly they were Xaircraft junk. So execpt for one time, all attempts at return to home resulted in disasterous crashes that had me rebuilding it "X650-V8" several times thinking I would not let it beat me....it did! And the Xaircraft junk could not land just sort of come back in your general direction if it came back. Normally it would veer off into outer space and when you turned RTH off, it body slammed its self to the ground or up in a tree, or on a roof. Last time, it went on to a highway and was scattered over 100 feet in all directions. I didnt even go back for pieces.

I go long with the cry baby story to explain why I am so terribly stressed sounding in the video.....I was about to vapor lock. :nevreness: At my age, you dont want that kind of stress. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VfPBqcEoXd8 This was the first time I ever had RTH actually work, and man is it great! Like I said, it turns counter clockwise and heads back going forward straight to you and lands as you will see..

Oh there's no doubt that it does face front on the RTH, but how far away for the Naza/GPS to have that enabled?
Do a RTH from a closer range and see of it just holds it's position and returns facing wherever it started the RTH function.

I did a rth from probably 60 ft and it didn't turn to face home, just came back sideways.

I just tested at about 250 feet away...

Initialized, walked with it flying about 250 feet (ROUGH guess) & hit RTH.
I shot up 20meters and started going home sideways but within 1 second it did turn nicely to "face forward" going home.
So with that test I'm guessing you need I be over the 60 meters mentioned earlier.
