RED Killer? Sony F5 - F55

Canon missed HORRIBLY with the C300 and 1DC - Looks like the Sony F5 just might be the next Epic at half the price. (even the FS-700) gets 4K albeit w an external recorder at an ungodly and unannounced price) So... F5 at 15K - 1080p @ 120fps out of the box. w 4k downstream. Could be tasty!

Well, that would explain why Red announced they were reducing their price substantially. Global shutter! NICE. I was hoping the GH3 would have this. They all will very soon.

The new Sony cameras will likely be very nice, but I doubt they will be Red Killers. They'll likely be fairly competitive, but those guys at Red always have something new up their sleeve. They are a moving target and have seriously pushed the camera market forward.

Ditto. Red has recouped their development costs for Epic so its gloves off now . Just ordered an Epic PL mount to keep our Scarlet company. Arri should be watching their backs right about now. 2013 is looking very interesting.

Haven't cut any Red footage so in no position to talk re transcode/redcode etc but I would assume that Adobe will want to support the Sony codec and you'll be able to edit native in PP/AE CS6.XXX. Other than the silly SxS cards... (did the Pana P2 route too (eyeroll)...- Please Manufacturers CF/SSD!) I'm actually looking forward to this cam.

Agree.. Janards a maverick, love him or hate him, he pushes the envelope. That said, other than a global shutter, what would you genuinely ask for at this point?? 28 stops?? 8K Internal??? Time for displays to catch up.
