Question regarding RTH

Was flying yesterday with wind about 20 mph. Decided to switch RTH to bring it back. Everything worked well. As it was landing I switched RTH off to adjust the yaw. It wouldn't do anything. I had complete control of the throttle and went ahead and landed. I didn't try ail or elev as I was a little freaked out that I had no control of yaw.
Is the normal or a glitch?

When you switch off the failsafe you must switch to manual at least once to regain full control. did you have it on GPS or Atti mode?

Yup, to regain control you need to flick to manual- just very briefly so don't worry, but you need to flick in and out of manual. You don't even need to flick the go to home switch back to its normal position.

I had it in GPS mode. I just thought it was weird that I had control of the throttle but not yaw.
Thank you both for the help.

Can you be more specific about the order? Do I switch briefly into manual before exciting safe mode or after? I have my radio set up so that I can force safe mode from any of the three flight modes and want to make sure I can successfully regain control.

I turned failsafe switch back to normal and then flipped 3way to manual and back to atti or gps to regain full control. Just don't flip 3way too many times at once or it will go into compass recalibrate and you don't want that while flying.......

You just have to switch out of GPS mode and then back. This is to take control during a return to home.
You do not have to switch modes to activate return to home (fail safe) but you do have to be in GPS mode.
