Hi I just got a Flame Whell F550 kit, they are coming with 4, 10 inch and 4, 8 inch propellers, can I upgrade to the 10 inch Graupners for all the motors without any more modifications? and do you think is going to give more or less flying time? how big battery you recomend.
Thanks, I'm really new in this.

Hi Anselmo if its a F550 you should have 6 propellers. My F550 has stock motors, motors that come with the kit, I use 10x5 graupners (3 clockwise and 3 anti-clockwise rotation). The batteries I use are 4S 5000Mah and I get about 10 minutes flight with 20% capacity left in the battery. My F550 weighs 2450 grams All Up Weight with gymbal, landing gear, gopro2 and Eagle tree telemetry.
Your flying time will not increase using Graupner props but the security that the props will give you by not suddenly breaking in flight (DJI props have a bad reputation for breaking) that is more important. The graupner prop hubs are thinner and therefore you will need to either add a washer or chamfer the hub nut's internal thread.

Anselmo:

Sounds like your kit was short some props. My F550 kit came with 8 each of the 10" and 8" props.

DJI props do have a bad reputation, especially the older ones. The newer 1045s have a thicker hub but do break - I lost one in flight after about 4 hours total flight time on them.

The "new" DJI 1038s are supposedly a lot better and that's what I'm flying now. Google DJI1038 and you will find a video of DJI destructively testing these props. Pretty impressive.

One suggestion I'd make is keep up with the amount of flight time you put on a set of props. As I said above, I got a little over 4 hours on the older DJI props, so I'm going to give the new ones the benefit of doubt and run them to 5 hours unless I do damage, then replace them. They're cheap to buy and way cheaper than a full on crash.
