Hey guys,
I need some advice on how I can increase flight time on my 580 size quad. The quad weighs 3.3lbs without battery. It is equipped with 800kV motors and 10x4.5 props. My OSD says that the quad consumes about 22amps at half throttle which is pretty much a steady hover with a 4s battery. I tried a 3s battery (both batteries being 5000mAh) which was a bit lighter but offered practically no performance difference at all.. the quad still consumed 22amps at half throttle in hover flight. The only thing that seems to lower the amperage is going smaller in props. I have experimented with 12x3.7, 11x4.7, and 10x4.5. So far the 10's have been the best bet for me.
Anyone mind sharing their setups including power plants and aircraft weight and what their flight times look like? Thanks
