Quad crashes, props o' death keep on spinnin'!

So, my buddy's f450 takes off from a picnic table and 5 minutes later he decides to see if his failsafe works. Can you guess what happened? Yup, the quad landed on the side of the table, fell over, broke one prop and landed upside down. Well, my buddy picked the thing up by the prop-less arm and got the surprise of the day when the other three props started trying to take his fingers off. I had the TX but, for some reason, the usual down-on-the-sticks movement did not turn the motors off. And nothing I could do would turn em off. Eventually, with him holding the quad upside down, i went in and pulled the battery connector apart. But here's the thing: are there other TX actions to take besides the usual off movement to get the motors to stop?
Anyway, after that, we packed up and went to the bar. Two vodkas later, we were talking about what brave men we were. Ha. Fools r Us!

I would guess the same, as well as being on a table it may have thought it hadn't landed only a guess.

did you turn failsafe off before you tried to move the sticks into the arm or disarm mode?

If i flick mine into failsafe and want to re-gain control, i have to flip it back to att mode before i have control

Even if it goes from failsafe to gps mode, you wont have any control until you go back to either att or man mode

Essentially, turn off fail safe and enter att mode, then turn off the motors.
