PBD Continuity and FC/ESC's

Long story short - down 4 ESC's (20A little bee's) and a brand new Seriously Dodo. I need your help trying to figure out what caused this.

-Before the install-
In mid flight, my quad dropped out of the sky. No loss of signal or anything, only thing that was affected seemed to be the ESC's. After picking it up, the FC (Naze 32) would power on but I would only get half of the startup tones. I figure my Naze finally had enough crashes and was out for the count.

Went home to tear down and install my new Xnova 2206's and seriously dodo. Finished wiring everything and powered it up, no magic smoke. Tested motor 1 at maybe 1/4 throttle, all good. The I went to test them all and really gave it some throttle, and poof - magic smoke and a little fire on the ESC's. Then I saw the magic trail of heat spreading on the dodo and melted some random component off. $100+ total down the drain.

Wouldn't my components blow from the start if there was a short somewhere? I know all my wiring was right and nothing blew until I cranked it. I just check my PBD for continuity and nothing crosses over BUT NOW there is no continuity where there should be on some of the pads. Did my PBD fail?

I though the 20A's would be enough, if they blew and there was still power running through the system, would this have taken out my FC as well? Has any dealt with something similar?

Regardless, I'm upgrading to 30A. Luckily there is an large electronics store next to my hobby shop so tomorrow I will buy the the components to make that light bulb safety switch. (I can't remember what it's called, if someone could provide me with a DIY video that would be great)

The after math.

And what my beautiful quad has been reduced to :(

Any input is appreciated. Thanks.

Been there, done that! And the worst part is that funky smell from the magic smoke just lingers in the air, reminding you of your failure. Hard to tell exactly what caused your problem, but 20 amp ESC's should be plenty for that sized quad and motors, in my opinion. Something must have shorted out. If it fried 20 amp ESC's, especially that fast, going to 30 amp isn't going to fix the problem. It's when you fry everything twice in a row, that it get's VERY frustrating. Ask me how I know!

Oh man yes, that funky does not go away.

Alright, I'm not risking burning up more stuff. New PBD and some liquid tape are in order. I hate that all these lessons are learned the hard way.
