Panasonic Lumix GH2 video settings, what do you use? I need help.

Hey everyone. I am curious of the GH2 settings used by others for video from their copters. I can get it to take great pictures but I am just not happy with the video I am getting. It would be great if someone would even provide a little tutorial of what they do. I need to know things like if you have the anti-vib on or off? What exposure mode do you use and how do you set it up? Film mode? etc, etc.?

I really appreciate any tips you all could pass along.

Thanks,

Shawn

I was going to install the new firmware after seeing Jeff's video with it but haven't done so yet. It would be nice to get some feedback from others on what they would do!

the new Flowmotion hack over at personal-view.com where they are refining the hack could be quite good; I haven't got anything in the air yet to test but have used some of the hacks in different conditions and they are great - to get ultimate quality you usually have to sacrifice the amount of footage per 32Gb card but with short flying times of 10 minutes that won't be such a problem. The Driftwood 176Mb/s hack is the highest bitrate and one of the best but Flowmotion and Cake hackers are looking for better quality on moving objects and in the 60fps modes. Huge number of options available there; most of the recent ones Quantum, Flowmotion, Cake etc will do a great job

Mac should be ok to run pTool with winebottler or crossover directly; but yeah, otherwise maybe download GH10 direct on pc and run Ptool on the pc

Yep, if you make a "GH2 patch" folder with the Ptool.exe and the GH10v1.0 in it, just add the .ini files in there and they will load up automatically when you open Ptool.

So setf.ini will load up under 'F' in Ptool. You just need to have the ini file in with the others. As long as they are all different names eg seta.ini through to setj.ini, you can have 10 different patches available to load up, just click on the letter and then click save and call it GH2__v12.bin (with the double underscore).

Ah, you're sorted now I see..cool

okay done, wondering if i can test or have a indication if the patch is actually working. Its night here and not enough light in the room to really see a quality difference. File size or media info would give an indication ?

I oepn the .mts file up fullframe in Mplayer - then Info tells me the bitrate and the framesize. But you can also tell if the hack is in place if you have more menu options, such as Video Out:NTSC or PAL and Language: English, French etc.

I gave it a try and the footage looked good, but then after a few test shoots my camera hang and needed to be rebooted by removing the battery. Of course the last video was not recorded.
Since this experience I have installed the original FW 1.1 again and I'm happy to have a reliable camera which work in all conditions.
In my opinion we have bigger issues to solve before considering to use such little enhancements with flying GH2 cams.
Today I went out just to test my new props and made this video with the GH2:
