I see a need for some regulation but yet this is another way for the government and companies to make more money from hobbyists and take it out of the reach for only those who have large disposable incomes.

And those with said large disposables incomes will buy one "RTF" as a "cool toy" to show off with and never even get certified anyway and it will end up in the cupboard broken when it crashes

As for Micheal Copes he needs to pull his head out of his backside and realise that people are allowed to have a hobby and this happens to be one chosen by quite a few here in Aussie

As for individuals not actually needing one surely a gun is just as not needed but lots of people legally have one without a real need for one

He really is good at his job as a civil rights minister if he can not see me having a hobby as a civil right

My grandfather and brother both DIED fighting wars for my right to freedom for which I am eternally grateful and some idiot like this wants to take it away Just because he clearly does not understand my hobby

Lets just ban Photography as a hobby as well then as a DSLR in the wrong hands is just as dangerous when it comes to breaching privacy laws (just ask any hollywood celebrity or the royal family)

And while we are at it lets ban google street view and google earth just as invasive in some cases

When will these people learn that telling people not to do something makes them want to do it more ( just ask all the pot heads )

Well since I live on acreage it looks like I will just have to go and buy a cow or 2 to round up it seems so I can meet the requirement to have an FPV rig

I agree there are already many laws which protect people from privacy... why add more legislation surely if some idiot was caught using a FPV setup to spy on their neighbors then they can already be prosecuted under existing laws. As you say there are many other hobbies and technologies which people use which also if placed in the wrong hands can have all sorts of bad consequences.

It really should not be up to the Government to decide what people should need or not, nor should we have to continually justify our personal choices.
