New to MultiRotor Build

Hello, I have been flying a RTF Micro quad for a bit now and would like to step up into a 250 FPV build. As I havent built a quad yet, but do have some technical skills, I need some help confirming everything I have selected will work together and if I need to get more. I am going to include links so people can see they parts I am looking to use currently. Any suggestions would be appreciated. The following is just for the quad as I haven't looked into to much detail on the FPV setup yet, just would need to figure out where to tap into for power.

Now to start listing what I am looking at

The Remote- Turnigy 9x

New Module for Remote- FRSky DJT

The Motors - Multistar Elite 2204

The Power Distribution - Wiring Harness

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

What remote do you use? I just seen it was a highly recommended one, and I don't have a local hobby store to look at.

I like the bullet connectors vs soldering the cables to the board, makes easier if I end up having to replace components.

Do these motors have ccw and cw threaded prop adapters? I like the self tighening. Also do you know what kind of thrust they put out with 5x3?

Tx's are listed in my sig, DX18 for heli's and 14SG for MR's, I prefer not to use a $2 remote on a $2,000 quad, sure some like the cheap controllers but for me it becomes a hobby with a hobby to keep them performing and the tiny Rx's with PPM or S-Bus that are available for FrSky and Futaba are worth the buy in price.

soldering is not hard and saves mess and space, you will be replacing at home so do it properly.

I would not worry about self tightening on a mini sized motor, just use nylock self locking nuts.

The 14SG does look nice. What exactly is PPM and S-bus? What receiver would you suggest to run on a 250? Ill probably hold off on getting for a little bit as It cost more than quad, batteries and chargers. Definitely something to look at later.

So I would solder the ESC directly to the board correct?

PPM and S-Bus allow you to use one cable for the Rx to FCU connection and the FCU then decodes all the channels, makes for a far simpler install, pretty much PPM and tiny four channel receivers is the go for most people flying mini's. The receiver you choose will depend on the system you buy.

A cheaper Tx will get you started but it will limit what Rx's you can use, some use the Taranis radios but they are not as cheap as some make out, $240 for the radio if you want a Rx and case, you could also pick up a Futaba T8FG used for around $200, got one of these for number 2 son and he loves it. The Taranis is a good radio but has a very steep learning curve and some features that are very easy to setup on Spektrum and Futaba are a nightmare on the Taranis, I know because I had one but sold it off as not user friendly at all.

Yes solder the ESC's directly to the PDB.

Or you can ditch the ESCs and harness by using a 4-in-1 ESC. I just got a Hobbywing Quattro and so far I'm pretty happy with it.

The 4 in 1 seems really nice for a larger quad that needs 20 amps, but for me I only need 12 amps, so it nearly doubles the weight of 4 esc and a board.

4 in 1 ESC blocks are a bit of a trap I think, blow one ESC and you have to replace the whole thing, decide you need something bigger and you may not be able to mount it, like to use different firmware, maybe not. If you want good cheap ESC's that just work then grab some Blue series or some Afro's.

Pretty much any ESC's that run BL Heli or SimonK should be okay. I will let you in on a secret, I run a Blackout Spider Hex with Blue Series 12A ESC's with the standard firmware and it flies fine, very good actually.
