Well, Hi. Just starting to get into the Multirotor hobby. Raced RC cars for a long time, but always wanted to fly.

So far i have been considering jumping in with a DJI F550 kit from A Main, and using a Futaba 10JA as my controler. I have a connect to Thunder Power, so i would run their 4s packs. But not 100% sure what else to get.

Start small and work from there. I quickly outgrew my F550 and Naza Gimbal, but the great thing is, may of the spin-offs use the same components. I did just start flying my F550 again and love how effortless, quiet and long runtimes (compared to my Disco Pro).

Read through the "group build" and lots of information will be bestowed upon you!

Bigedmond - welcome you have come to a good site. My suggestion is to read as many posts as you can and learn how to search the forum. You may have a bit of a head start being familiar with RC. You may be familiar with batteries and acronyms so you can skip the first two: http://www.multirotorforums.com/foru...ons-and-Lounge!!!
"Understanding Lithium Polymer batteries", "Multi-Rotor Heli abbreviations, acronyms, secret codes, etc.!" BUT read this one: "Group Build, DJI NAZA/F450 Quadcopter!". I really like my F550 and although I am putting together another heavy lift multirotor the 550 with a gopro is a nice setup.

Welcome and Best of luck to you!

Thanks. Been reading like crazy, and some of the comments about the plastic arms are making me rethink the 550. Found the Tarot series drones, and the look of the materials looks better. So i am now researching on those.

One of my biggest concerns honestly is the radio i have selected. I know surface radios, but stick radios are completely foreign to me. The Search feature on this site is in for a big workout for the next couple days.

The only real issues I know about the plastic DJI arms are on the S800 and the high frequency vibrations causing the "flip of death". The 550, 450 (friend) both seem rock solid in durability and dependability. I've got no issues with the stock DJI stuff, props included. Most of the "bad" rumors/info are from eons ago, they have worked the bugs out for the most part. I'm flying DJI arms on 3 of my 5 MRs.

Rest assured, if there was an issue with the stock 550/450 arms, I wouldn't be flying them on my DiscoPro (and the nearly thousands of dollars I have wrapped into each flight on that one)

I have a Tarot 680 pro, those and the larger ones seem more susceptible to encountering vibrations. I've been hearing about horror stories about jello with the Tarots (haven't finished mine yet) due to the length, blades and motors.
