Normally e-clips are used only once. If it doesn't snap on with the first try, throw it away and take a new one. Taking it on and off and on and off will make it useless.
For "any-now-and-then" use: http://www.rc-modellbau-blog.de/2009/04/26/howto-e-clips-montieren-demontieren-2804 It's in German, but the pictures tell you everything
That's how we do it here in the company: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wn4zuDDUlHQ&feature=related

Chris

I have the little spring style clips that came stock on the axi. Ive found after shooting a few new ones across the room the work perfectly if i set half of it wherr it belongs then press/roll it over the end of the shaft it pops right on. Instead of trying to push it from the side like those traditional e clips you showed. Thanks tho
