New $579 6s Battery

When I switched over to a quad and x8 with low KV motors, I knew I'd have to buy new batteries.

Just got an email for pre-ordering a new Pulse (which I've never used that brand) 22,000 mah 6s 25c battery at 2449g. Just $579.

I can just see my wife's reaction when I suggest she buy me 2 of these for my birthday.

There are a few folks flying monster copters at 30-50lbs AUW who need this kind of power. And when you’re lifting a $50,000 camera package, a couple of $579 LiPos are just part of the equation.
Check out this beast that Ziv Marom has built to be able to fly TWO RED EPICs for 3D work:

Wow that's big!

I'm now building an 800 size gasser heli which I'll be putting a Pixhawk on. I will definitely be trying to see if I can hang a camera from it and eliminate the vibe problems that have plagued other attempts at this. Should be able to. Could probably build a heli that could fly a Red for $5 worth of gas and a single $300 engine. Gas is the killer app for helicopters.

And nobody can argue about safety of SRH when comparing that X8. It would be a discussion about which one would "kill you more".

dude at 25 C i would say.... HECK NO! MaxAmps sells super high C rating 6S batteries around same mAh for half that price.

1. Max Amp 22,000 6 cell is $724.99. That's a bit more than the Pulse @ $579 which I thought was high. http://www.maxamps.com/proddetail.php?prod=Lipo-22,000-222-Pack&cat=363. I might try one at half the price, 579/2 = 289.50.
2. Says 40C but I think they are talking about burst not continuous. Never owned one, but in my limited readings there seems to be some issues with their C ratings. Just google it and you will have all you need to read. Anyway, it's not a big issue to me as 25c is all I need on my 3520 and 3515 400 kv motors.

Guessing you read something wrong at beginning of thread on pricing or Mah, if not, I look forward to knowing where I can take a look at a MaxAmp 22,000 6s Lipo battery for under $300.

You do know what 'C' ratings are, right? 25C * 22A = 550A at 22V, so if you're flying with two of them, you could light a small town. That's 24,000 watts.

stevemaller nailed it,

Most people do not understand what the "C" rating is and how to calculate it. 25C on A 22000mah battiery is perfectly fine for a constant amperage draw. Now just figure out what your amperage draw is per motor at hover and times that by the amount of motors you have. As long as it comes in under the continues "C" rating of what the battery is putting out, your fine.

You also need to make sure that your full throttle is below the maximum rating of the battery, not just hover. Some batteries will have a published maximum C rating. Some do not. Some publish the maximum C rating as if it was the continuous rating <cough looking at you Maxamps>.

Personally, I try to keep the maximum power draw below the continuous C rating.
