Need help with Dx6i setup from scratch - any advice?

Hi - just put together the F450 ARF kit and I'm about to bind the Tx for first power up and linking to the assistant but I'm not sure on what I need to have the Dx6i set as.
I mean right from the beginning. I don't even know if I should have it in plane or heli mode or what to have the switches/settings set at (I have the U channel on the Naza to Gear on the Ar6200 Tx - is this right?).

Do I just setup a new model profile and leave everything as default? I've setup a few heli's before with a Dx6i, but this was a fairly long time ago and I had a data sheet and step by step vids were available but can't finding anything for a this. Just read the Naza manual and got brain freeze.

Appreciate any advice on where to start.

Cheers, C.

I don't use the dx6i, but I do own one, so bear that in mind.

Set it up in acft mode, use a new model setting, ensure all throws are at 100% and all trims and sub-trims are zero.

Gear to U is fine. This will be your flight control selection switch.

Thanks Tomstoy2 - first start up jitters. Making sense while working through it. Got the calibration done and set Atti and Manual mode but a whole lot more to get my head around.

I think it all makes sense but they really need to get the manual revised for newbs too as the Naza F450 kit gets more and more popular.

No time to try first flight today so still haven't spooled up the motors - hope that all works ok.

Cheers, C.

Me too have the Dx6i for my new F450 + naza. This is my first RC ttransmitter.

Agreed that the naza manual is not easy to comprehend as a new user. I read it like a hundred times :p .

For A and M mode, configuration, use the travel adjust on the tx to slide the bars on naza assistance. Thats the only config that took up most of my time. There's a video out there for this.

Thanks RCNut - and I found that vid SG, cheers.

Just didn't get time today to do any more than turn on at lowest power without props just to check wiring prior to insulating with a bit of silicone. So hopefully tomorrow I can get it all finished and ready for a first hover attempt.

Got a few questions and I'd really appreciate any input at all.

Read about a lock up of FF in Atti mode, and not being able to return to horizontal / counter either for a number of seconds or at all - no this has me a little worried as this is the mode I would be mainly using.

Thanks all for your time. C.
