Naze32 Bootloader

I added a third Naze32 Rev6 to the collection. On original connection I had a lot of trouble connecting to and flashing the unit with Cleanflight. Base flight would not connect either. To flash Cleanflight I had to flash on connection and short Bootloader pins while powering up and flashing. Once that is done, connection and programming is fine. If I try to reflash or change version of Cleanflight , it will fail and locks up again. Repeat flash on connect with Bootloader shorted and it will work again.

Is this really normal or not abnormal? Tech support from the store is saying it's no problem and all his Rev5 boards did this after awhile and continue to work fine.

Anyone else having this problem, the solution I found was to keep re-flashing. I re-flashed maybe 8-10 times successfully with some mixed in fails and randomly it started working normal. Not sure what changed or why, but my last 3-4 flashes have not required a bootloader short.
