Naza-M Electic Spark Connecting Battery. Now GPS Position Hold does not Work

I have a Naza-M for my quadcopter. It is 13 months old and has performed very well. Yesterday, I connected the power and heard a louder spark snapping noise than I have heard before. The battery plugged in ok and the quad flew just fine except the GPS mode does not hold at all. I landed and went through the compass calibration many times but it always resulted in rapid flashing red lights. I tried to update the assistant software to the latest 3.16 but it will not recognize my V1. The assistant 1.8 does recognize it fine. I know the 3.16 has more compass functions that I wanted to try. I might need to send this in for service. Where should I go?

You should try going through your dealer first. They can go direct to DJI easier than you (And probably get a faster response).
I just had a V1 go ape on me. I bought it through HeliDirect several months ago. They went to DJI for me and are giving me a V2 since the V1 is no longer available for replacement. I just have to pay the difference in initial price. ($28)

If that's not an option, you will have to go to DJI direct and try to work something out with them.
Good luck.

Yeah, I bought it from Helidirect back in 2012. I called them earlier and they told me to get in contact with DJI for repair.

Their hands might be tied depending on how long ago you bought it. But you could still ask them to contact DJI for you.
Just open a support ticket http://www.helidirect.com/contact_us.php scroll to the bottom of the page. Make sure you select Tech Support in the "Department" dropdown.
Explain what happened, and see if they can work something for you. Can't say they can do anything but it can't hurt to ask.

Just purchased a V2

Thanks, I sent them a ticket with the necessary information. We will see what happens. In the meantime I did order a Naza-M V2. I am building a T960 and will use it on that when I get it built. Until then I'll put it on this next level quad and remove the bad V1. I flew the quad tonight and it does work fine in normal or attitude mode.

Before doing that I would check the compass calibration in the latest Software. Also when you turn it on don't move anything for a few seconds. On a recent job that I did I could not start on a level platform as I was in a boat. At the start of each days shooting I did the compass reset and had no accumulated errors. If the compass is out it will wander all over the place.

Not saying it is not the GPS as I have seen a few of them croak. If there is no update available for the GPS it may not show up on the screen. I swapped out to a Naza H GPS as a replacement and despite being a different part No. it still worked.

The weakness with the Naza-M is the LED unit. The mini USB connector is very fragile and can give a bad connection to your computer. I have also seen noise on the PS, probably bad cap. joint.
