Will a t motor mt2826-8 spinning an APC thin E 15x4 prop and an e-flite 30A esc work with 4s battery? Will it overheat or make "magic smoke"?

Weight of your heli with full payload would be helpful. We really need more info to help. I fly 2826 with 14x6 props on my Octo with 60amp ESC on 5s / 11,000mah. No issues at all hovering at 50% with an AV200, 5d and prime 50mm. I think I could run 15" on this setup. It could easily handle 15" props on 4s although you may consider more headroom on your ESC. Have you run eCalc yet?

Im going to build an h-quad using this motor combo. What AUW do you reccommend?

And yes i have run ecalc it said max amp per motor is 22.49

No one can recommend an overall weight. You need to decide what you are going to carry and then build from there. I have not seen too many people build a quad with 2826 motors although I am not saying it can't or should not be done. What is your goal with this quad? Are you going to lift a camera or just fly it around?

I will be using an APM 2.5 with telemetry and gps powered by a 5000 or 6000 mah 4s lipo. Im just going to fly it around w/o a camera. Im building this because my f450 quad got lost when my transmitter unexpectedly turned of and my quad fell. I was able to find the cause and it was a battery that popped out of place in the dx6i.
