Making an F550 Portable

Is there a reason one cannot build an F550 with connectors between the board and arms so that one may disconnect some or all of the arms for transport? Perhaps this is already done but I recall someone saying before that it's not practical.

There's no reason why you couldn't put connectors there. The issue is that each arm is secures with 6 screws so to take off all 6 arms that's 36 screws that have to be removed making it a somewhat time consuming job. Then when you get to the field it 36 screws that need to be locktited (is that a word?) and put back.

I see your point. I was thinking maybe only disconnecting two (opposing) arms so that one dimension is greatly reduced. I think there's a much greater chance that I can find a Pelican case that will handle that. What kind of connectors would you use?
