Interesting read on propeller aerodynamics

About halfway through the first page I was reminded that I am not a PhD candidate in mathematics :dejection:

I wish that I had more physics and math than I do, because I'd like to understand this, but I suspect that the paper (while well-written and -researched) is aimed at a more experienced and/or educated target reader than myself.

Yeah, me too. My GF could do the math but has no interest in the subject. :)

My takeaways are:
1) Vertical CG is critical to stability.
If the VCG is lower than the blade plane, the mc is more stable but more reactive to wind.
To hold wind better the VCG needs to be above the blade plane, but that makes it generally less stable.

2) Prop flexibility plays a very large role in overall stability, the more flexible (to a point), the better disturbance rejection it has.

I guess the basic message is, begin with end in mind. :tennis:
