Buy a DJI naza kit and u will be satisfied. Naza is like 400+80 frame+ motors + remote and controlers. Depends on the remote control how much u will pay for that but this should be under 1000 $ kit .

Yeah, the f450 with naza is about as friendly as it gets and still has the fun factor. Super durable and very easy to fly. And works pretty well with the gopro for amateur fpv or AP/AV. Plus you have tons of guys on here who can help you with the DJI. Some of the others are a little tricky to get assistance with. Unfortunately going with the masses is the best way when you are in foreign territory.

Jake,

I'm waiting for Hoverthings new FPV frame. The witespy is theirs. Odd page you linked to. It looked similar to theirs, but it's not. Wierd. Anyways, on that site there's another version that comes with a DX6i (about $160). You need 4 channels to fly (elevator, aileron, throttle, & rudder). The other two channels can be hooked up to turn on/off the auto level & altitude hold. The general rule of thumb is "get the best tx you can afford". I can't afford much more, but I'm getting the DX7s (about $300). I think it is significantly better than the 6 & worth the money. Not only does it have the extra channel (maybe to turn on/off running lights), it has telemetry too! Reviews have shown the DX8 to have a lot of issues. Some worked out, but too many complaints for me to risk it. Even if it is only $50 more. Good luck.

PS - It comes with a battery (2200mah I think) that gives you about 6 minutes. A 5000mah gives you 13 minutes. Check out their q & a section. http://www.hoverthings.com/

Jake,

Awesome! I thought I'd try their FPV frame that's due out in about a month. It's shaped a little different to help keep the props out of the pic. This is juz's quad. They let him test the frame. They said it would come with the Naza too. Can't wait! :highly_amused: Did you find a charger? A guy I know recommended this one to me. http://www.hobbypartz.com/75p-t6-multi-charger.html

I'm going to order that charger now it looks very good for the money! If I wanted to buy that frame is it just a matter of putting all the stuff from my witespy quad on to it or would I need all new parts? It looks very cool I'm curious to see how well it is in the air!!!

Jake,

I'm new to the whole rc hobby so I couldn't say. There are a million combinations of props, motors, & esc's to choose from. Everybody has their own preferences for what they're looking for. Here's a link to the original post of juz's. It does say what he used. http://forums.openpilot.org/topic/8231-vc-fpv1-prototype/ I've watched a bunch of his videos & this thing flies like a dream!

Any opinions on best transmitter

Jake I'm still learning that myself but listen to my story.

Many years ago a friend got me into rc sailplanes. In the days of crystal controlled frequencies. He started with those primitive first generation electric airplanes and started small. He always bought just enough radio transmitter to do the job. He learned more and always needed a new TX with more capabilities. Eventually he owned half a dozen cheap transmitters and spent more money than if he had just got the best he could. He taught me that and when I bought my first TX it was way more capable than I needed but I never forgot his advice.

This year I entered rc again and thought the Spektrum DX8 was tops. It controls my little Blade mQX as well as my first F450. But ...

Before I invest any more money in the hobby I plan to convert to a Futaba radio to control my next build. PeteDee on another thread expressed the same sentiment. He wrote that he will always use the best transmitter he can afford.

Many of the most experienced and knowledgeable fliers on the forum use the Futaba. They ought to know so I'm going to convert as well.

Best, Rob

If you get a Futaba 8FG Heli version, you won't ever need another transmitter again. It is fully expandable and fairly easily programmable and works with tons of aftermarket items such as FPV goggles, signal boosters, telemetry etc. It is a pretty sweet system for its price point. You can of course get fancier, but it will just about do it all for a multi rotor
