How to tell if a motor is on it's way out and advice on recording FPV

One of my worries after a couple of tumbles here and there is the motors taking damage.

Are there any key things to look out for to figure out if a motor is stuffed before the hexa falls out of the sky.

I've heard you can fly with 1 motor out, how true is this?

Also, I am using the Fatshark goggles and wanted to record what the fpv camera is recording. I'm using a go pro to record HD video. There are some cables with RCA outputs on them, how are people generally recording the output? Laptop, camcorder? Something relativity cheap.

Motors: If your motor is making weired noise when running your bearings might be damaged. The other thing which often makes a problem is the motor shaft which could be slightly bent after a crash. To check you would have to take the motor apart and roll it over a glass tabel....that way you can spot the slightest bend. In general, if your motor got a mechanical problem, you would see it by the vibrations it is causing. A smooth running motor is normally ok (mechanically)

For electrical problems this could help:

FPV: Your GoPro is already recording the video in HD....but you want to see the image what your camera is seeing. At the moment it is (almost) not possible to transmit HD video images wireless....so the signal has to to go from the HDMI port of the GoPro to an video converter, and from there to a video transmitter and than to a video receiver - either built in the Fatsharks or external where you connect your Fatsharks....I am not an GoPro expert, but i guess your RCA cables are just to connect your GoPro to a TV once you recorded something (in case your TV doesn't have a HDMI port)

Cheers for the replys chris.

When i was talking about the fpv gear. I was meant to say. I use the go pro to record hd. But while using the fpv gear id like to record that as well. There are rca cables that will come out of the goggles....just not sure what the best option to plug them into and record the fpv camera.

Cheers and sorry for the confusing original post.
