Hooking up an altitude sensor

I just purchased a Spektrum altitude sensor to mount on my DJI F550, the sensor will be plugged into a Spektrum TM1000 telemetry module that is plugged into an AR8000 receiver. All seems easy enough to do until I read the instructions, they say the sensor is rated for 3.5 to 9.6 volts and that is a problem because im running my 550 on 3 cell 11.1 volt power. Does anyone know if the AR8000 receiver lowers the voltage going out from the data port to the telemetry module. I don't want to hook it up and fry a $45. sensor if I can help it.

I'm assuming you're running the Naza-M on your 550. The LED module has a BEC built in that feeds 5v to the Naza, which in turn feeds 5v to the receiver and its sub modules, telemetry, etc. you should be fine. The altimeter module should get its power off the FC/receiver circuit.
