HK Q450 vs firewheel

The real deal is a lot stronger, parts are readily available also. You don't find too many people flying the cheap clones around :)

Am a newbie to RC flying. I'm going with the HK 450 clone as it is much cheaper. I've ordered 2 frames so that I'll have plenty of spare parts WHEN (not IF) I crash a nd need spares to rebuild/repair. If you crash hard enough the original would break too. My plan is to get better at LOS flying in different orientations and then graduate to a bigger/better quad for AP.

Yup! I'm building the 450 with KK2, Sunnysky X2212 1250 kv motors (8" or 9" props). I already received my Turnigy XRs (2 of them, one with Orange module and the other with FRSky module) and one Orange and one Frsky rxs. Only have to buy a laptop (as my computers are all Macs and am not comfortable with Parallels or bootcamp) before I start my build:)

For flashing new firmwares on the KK2 n Turnigy 9XR and for flashing ESCs etc. All work on PC, not Mac AFAIK:-(

$20 is all the difference between the real deal and the cheapo, I know it is $20 but it is much stronger. I will agree with the WHEN and not IF situation, I have flipped mine, hit stuff and landed hard without breakage. I have torn up a couple of props mind you, and still survived.

I on the other hand, would rather come out of a wreck with no damage, to having to replace arms as soon as it hits something. But that is just me.

Wow! Only $20 difference. I'd go with the original too. Here in Singapore the original DJI F450 frame kit costs $50 and each arm costs $12 when bought separately as against $11 for the clone frame kit! (All in Singapore dollars).

Hey, I am just saying, no need for the sarcasm... You will end up feeding more into the cheap units, they break easy. But do what you want to do, I was trying to help the OP, he was the one asking about the difference.

I appreciate the info. I understand you logic sir. Sometimes the clones are on par with quality sometimes...... not so much. I was hoping to hear from someone who has taken them side by side and seen how they compare in quality and durability. I could buy 3 of the Q models for a few $$ more than 1 DJI model. I dont mind paying for quality so long as it is measurably better than the alternative. When it comes time for me to graduate to my next quad, I will most likely go mainstream on my parts.

As the saying goes, you get what you pay for... Maybe once you Graduate to mainstream, you can compare for us? I have heard stories of them on here, but not actually owning one I feel slightly bias.

Some will tell you on here, the parts fail very easy. DJI have some videos out, showing the strength of the DJI materials. Unfortunately, the clones of the flame wheels can't match the strength.

I've seen those videos, IMHO, dropping an empty F450 (282g) frame out of the window is slightly different to ploughing a fully loaded (1,600g) frame into the deck in powered flight.
Personally, I like the DJI frames, I have built and flown F330, F450 & F550, they are very easy to assemble and are very capable of taking a bounce now and again.
I have a F330 on my "flight deck" at the moment :)

I was referring to the throwing at a fast rate of the arms and so forth, dropping probably would not do too much either, so I would agree with you on that. The latest video I watched, was with the new DJI Props, that guy was giving it a beating trying to break the props.

has there been any feedback about the "new" DJI props (sorry, I didn't see the "DJI new props" thread). I've seen them in the local stores but am reluctant to try them as I had home-built T6 fall out of the sky because 2 DJI props shattered in flight.
I usually use the Falten wooden props now, they come as a balanced pair, I have the 9x5 on my heli-quad. But they don't seem to have any 8" versions so my little F330 is still whizzing around on $2 plastic props for the moment.

I have seen a thread on here about people liking them.
They are supposed to be a lot stronger with some..... don't quote me on this.. 20% more efficient than the last ones.
When I get on my laptop, I will see if I can find the YouTube vid on it.

thanks for the link, I think I'll stick with the wooden 9x5 Falten on my heli-quad, I'm happy with the performance.
I might try DJI props on my F330 if they upgrade the 8" to the new design.
