Howdy,

I'm TAZ427 (aka Chad) from Texas.

Currently in waiting on a Q450 frame from HK to get here from China. Started out a month ago with a parts list to build my first Quad. It didn't include a Frame as I planned on 3D printing a frame. I ran into major issues with printing the ARMs of the frame I wanted (curling at the ends.) I all the items I ordered from HK (from 3 different warehouses no less) eventually came in, but I had no Frame :dread: and eventually decided to order the Q450 from HK. Only ships from China I guess, I really wish they'd stock more stuff in their US warehouses. That was a week ago, so I probably have at least a couple weeks to go before it comes in. Probably while I'm on vacation (Holiday for those in the EU :tennis:)

The quad will have the following HW KK2.1 w/ 1.5 FW, Q-brain 4x25A ESC, Turnigy L2210C 1200KV motors, 10x4.5 props, Turnigy 6X FHSS 2.4ghz Transmitter and Receiver (cheap but effective from my understanding), and a Turnigy 4000mAH 3S 30C LiPo. Plus misc support items (batt charger/balancer/storage, ESC programmer, Prop balancer, etc.)

In retrospect I wish I had purchased separate ESC's but I had already purchased it because of the plans I was using had somewhat tubular arms and I wanted to run the wires through them.

I replaced the battery connect w/ an XT60 and balanced my Props last night as my connectors and balancer came in. Still need to adjust the hub balance on a couple but I don't have an CA at the moment.

I'll program my ESC's this weekend, shouldn't take but a few minutes. I've got a few general questions, but I'll search first and then post if needed.

Wow, my frame came in from China really quick. Surprised it was only 8 days instead of 3-4 weeks.

Spent a couple hours last night working on it. Frame assembled, KK2.1 board mounted (even 3D printed a case for it), ESC's mounted, wiring from ESC's ran, Motors mounted.

Was connecting the ESC's to the motors and one plug didn't fit, thought it was being stubborn, looked closer, and it wasn't the compression but the head that didn't fit, pulled out the calipers. Doh!!! Someone soldered on a 4.0mm bullet connector to that one. Glad I had ordered some 3.5mm connectors, soldered one on and kept going.

Plugged in my Q-brain ESC to see what it was programmed to, good news it had the settings I wanted, at least on the M3 ESC - Need to pull out the signal wire from M3, and used the throttle hub to plus M1, M2 and M4 seperately (i.e. Batt from M3 plug + Signal for the specific motor plugs.) I'll end up moving the signal for M1 to the header with the BEC lead as it needs to be on the M1 connector when plugged into the HK KK2.1 board.

Plugged in the M3 into my HK KK2.1.5 board, did some initial configuration, and called it a night.

Hopefully I'll have my initial flight tonight.
