Hi All, newbie for Cape Town, South Africa

Hi Group,
I am from Cape Town, South Africa.
I do photography as a hobby. After reading/seeing and
heard all the 'hype' about MR platforms, I am now interested
to build-up a MR for in a semi-pro aerial video. I intend to us the MR platform
to play with and enjoy the hobby. Reading from various websites, it appears
that there are a variety of equipment etc available, so much that it
actually confuse me to make a correct decision which platform and technology
to buy for my purposes. I think it is also wise to buy 'locally' such that
one can replace and or find replacement parts 'easily'. However, I think the
costs of components could be quite high since all have to be imported
by the distributors locally, as in South Africa. So maybe I will have to buy
across-the-boarder, including spares! :)

I am hoping that by joining this forum I shall receive valuable info which will
help me in buying the correct gear from the start.

Best regards,
GertJL

Hi Gert

Great to have a South African guy on the forum....warm welcome to you.

I am living in Austria at the moment, but will move permanently with my family to Cape Town on the 15th September....we found a nice house in Hout Bay, so if you live not too far away we could meet up and I might be able to assist you.

All the best

Hi Chris!
Great to hear that you are moving to South Africa, a warm welcome in advance!
Hout bay is beautiful, I am sure you will enjoy living there with your family. I
live in Table View, which is next to Blouberg-strand, on the West coast-side
of Cape Town citybowl. I'd love to meet with you once you have settled.

Best regards,
Gerhard

That sounds great...maybe we exchange email adresses....will send you a PM

We also had a look at Blouberg-strand (which I really like), but for some reason we landed in Hout Bay.....

Multirotor stuff is more or less the prices like in Europe, so it's not that expensive.....you should see what they have to pay in Brazil.....European prices + 150%

Here is a few links to get you going:

http://www.multirotors.co.za/

http://www.steadidrone.com/ (they are great, located in Knysna...)

http://www.xtrememulticopters.co.za (official DJI distributor....)

http://www.sadrones.co.za/index.php (SA forum....)

Have fun....
