Hoverfly HFPro on Hex suddenly rocking back and forth

So twice now in the middle of filming my Hexacopter will suddenly start to rock back and forth violently. The first time it happened I tried to fight it and it took longer o correct, but the second time I just let the sticks go and in 1-2 seconds it stabilized itself. I am trying to figure out a cause for this. I am on the most up to date firmware. I am wondering if I could have a motor or ESC issue that causes some sort of glitch in the flight initially and then the HFP is catching it and correcting or if this is an issue with the board? The rest of the time it flies solid as a rock and I love it. Just having a hard time being confident with it which ends up causing me to pay things incredibly safe, and we all no safe footage isn't always as fun to watch. :)

HoverFly Pro Green
Newest firmware
Hitec Aurora 9 radio with Optima 9 rx
AV130 2 axis gimbal
iPeaka motors and SimonK ESC
4S 8000 mah

Thanks guys!:shame:

What is your AUW and how much throttle is required for it to hover?. Do you have a video of it flying at all from the ground perspective so we can see and hear it flying?

I will check the AUW tonight. It hovers at half throttle. Only video I have of it doing it is from the on board camera.

If you can post a youtube link to the video it can help. Also does this happen with all your batteries or possibly just one of them?

I'll get the video clips pulled out in the next day or two. Different battery packs both times. It happened two times in a matter of about 4 hours of flying so it's not real common. I'll get the info together and post ASAP

Nick,

it's very hot where i am (and lucky for me I'm digging a trench for a conduit run! yea!), is it just as hot out in Ohio? If you're running a heavy heli in the high temps it's likely it will be different than you are used to as it struggles to do its thing.

mid nineties temps and high humidity make the heli feel like it's thousands of feet above sea level. the heat isn't helping your batteries to perform either. the combination adds up to unpredictable flying unless you've already worked through this combination of factors.

also with Hoverfly, if you switch props, throw a heavier camera on the mount, use heavier batteries.....whatever.....you need to retune the gains for the new weights. it takes all of about 30 seconds but the controller might not be happy with the old settings at the new weights. add a lot of weight on a really hot day and it'll be especially unhappy with you.

Thanks Bart. It's not mid 90s here but really humid. Both flights were in the evening. The second time it happened it was about an hour into filming a golf course. It then flew for another 2 hours with no mishaps. I've had no changes in setup but its still relatively new.
