I need help from the expert... i have a home made wood frame quad
that weighs 838g without battery and camera and i have:
10x4.5 props
rc timer 30Amp esc
kk board 2.0
BC-2212 850 KV motors
park zone 11.1V 2200mAh 3 cell 12c lipo

the problem is a can't seem to be able to sustain stable flight
its like its too heavy. i have to floor it to take off and then as soon
as i release the throttle a bit it just wants to drop to the ground then i add more
throttle and on and on. i'm not sure if i shoud try a bigger battery or start over with
a lighter design. any will be appreciated

Can you post pictures? How much does it weigh with the camera and batteries?

Have you calibrated the ESC's? You may not be getting full available power.

Your 12C battery may be undersized for your heli and not capable of delivering the current to make it fly better.

I was thinking about getting a bigger battery but I'm not sure
what's the biggest battery my setup can safely take. Any ideas what battery i should try?
the esc's have been calibrated if I did it right. battery weighs 169g

size of battery not near so important as the C rating of the battery. look for 20-25 C as a minimum, and 35+ is even better

what about mAh?
I'm just wondering what's the magic number for weight and flight time

3S is the right voltage but the 50gram motors you have is on the small size if you plan on carrying anything more than the battery.

I would recommend a 3S2200 20-25 minimum. I wouldn't go with a larger battery. Just better C rating.
