help with WKM please

Flew my very first multi rotor yesterday, a DJI F550 with WKM.

I felt like I was flying it the whole time. The FC did not seem to be stabilizing it. It would not hold altitude or attitude on it's own.
I tried both attitude and GPS modes, and got good lights on the LED (blinking yellow for attitude and blinking purple for GPS).
I have a steady red light on the MC indicating it is functioning well.

Do I just need to increase my gains? Or do I have a problem?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.

If your struggling flying in GPS check x z settings are correct.. Make sure your negative values if GPS is behind and positive if in front..

Thanks for the help.
My GPS is slightly forward. It has a positive value of 3cm. It is slightly left with a negative value of -2cm, and it is up above the frame with a negative value of -19cm.

The problem is not that stabilization is not performing well. I don't think the stabilizing is working at all.
When I flew it on Fri, it would not hold altitude at all. I had to keep working the throttle constantly to try and hold altitude. It wouldn't hold attitude either. If it tipped one way, it wouldn't correct itself. I had to correct. The nose even slowly turned 180 degrees while I was flying and it never tried to correct.

My guess is that the IMU isn't working, but would I get a steady red light on the MC if the IMU wasn't working?
Has anyone ever heard of an IMU not working?

I'm going to try to fly it again today, and I'm going to see if there's any difference between manual mode and atti or GPS modes. I suspect it will fly the same in all modes.
I will try and take video and pics so you guys can see my set up and see what it is doing.

I appreciate any help you guys can give me since I am new to the multi rotors.

Thanks, Jim

Just another check, this should be from centre of gravity not the distance from the IMU, it maybe that the craft is heavy in an area, do you have any kit on like a camera ext.. If yawning could be gps calibtartion Might need to turn compass a little.. Or even gains as well..

I do have landing gear and a camera mounted on it. It's the Aeroxcraft landing gear, so the battery and camera offset (or balance) each other. I'll post pics soon.
I did use the CG and not the center of the frame for my mounting dimension inputs.
My GPS calibration worked fine and I got the 3 second white light upon completion.
I have increased my gains from the default setting of 100 to 110, and I will try these new settings today.

Thanks, Jim

Just flew it again after increasing the gains and it is working now! :tennis:
Will it not stabilize at all if the gains are set too low, or is this just my inexperience? The nose did turn around 180 degrees though on the first flight and it never corrected it. Why would it do that?

Thanks, Jim

After some further thought, I think this was probably working on my first flight as well, but I just didn't realize it due to my inexperience with multi rotors. I think I just kept flying it the whole time and never took my fingers off of the sticks to see that it really was working.
I think while I was constantly moving the throttle back and forth, that maybe I put in some minor rudder input causing the nose to turn 180 degrees without realizing that I did so.
Anyway, it's working good now and I'm happy with it. :tennis:
