Hi everyone
I'm not happy with the amount of thrust I have with my first quad build..http://www.rcgroups.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2176323
Ive got some new 8 and 9 inch props both with 4.5 pitch and a 4s battery. ecalc is indicating I shouldn't hover at approx 30%. I'm going to build a new frame and abandon the waterproof electronics housing for now and try to shave off some weight.
So here is my question...
What is optimal and or minimal distance between props tip to tip. Id'd like to get as small as posible with out switching motors and ESCs

Maybe one of the pros will chime in. I am new to quads myself but I did watched your videos. Wow you controls are extremely sensitive. I have a KK 2 board and had to turn down I gain and P gain until I could hover in a level position. It seems you are having to over compensate allot. Your motors suggest 8 to 10 inch props. I have read that spacing on motors on an H build can be somewhat critical if the spacing is to far between front and back.

Like I said , I very new at quads and hopefully one of the pros will step in and give you some help.

Since the video I have turned down the pitch and roll PIDs. Flies pretty smooth but under powered for my taste. I'm new too.

Mr take no prisoners!
Max efficiency when almost touching but not overlapping is best.

With 3S you will always struggle with weight, 4S will be much better.

The 2830 motors are not bad but balance is not so good especially if your use 4S, the collet type prop adapter is no where near as good as a fixed mount prop adapter.

I would set the spacing for the 9 inch props, that would give you the option to use the 8 inch with the 4S packs.
