Help me with the Perfect FPV Setup

I am in the process of purchasing either a Skyjib X4 or possibly the new DJI S800 EVO. I have flown RC aircraft for awhile but I have never set up a FPV system or a gimbal view system. I am not keen on the whole goggles thing I would rather have a 7" LCD attached to the Futaba 8FG Super radio and a separate ground station for the camera gimbal operator. The gimbal operator will also be using a Futaba 8FG Super. Can both the camera (DSLR) and FPV camera share the same transmitter or do I need two of them? Do I need two separate receivers for both the pilot and gimbal operator? I would love to hear input about the perfect gear setup for my application.

You would normally use one vTx on the aircraft and multiple vRx on the ground, we do it all the time with direct to vRx in the goggles and to the vRx on a pole with antenna tracking or just to a omni on the pole where the screen is. You could also have ten people watching on their own screens or goggles at the same time.

1) Do yourself a fever and get the Skyjib........

2) If you buy a video receiver/transmitter, watch out that they operate in the same band if you go for 5.8 Ghz.....check the chart here:

Other than that, if you don't need goggles, Pete's post is the way to go.....



PS: Did I say save yourself a lot of head-ache and get the SkyJib.......????

I use the TBS Dominator vRx so can receive on all bands on my goggles, quite good way to go.

Chris, the deals were too sweet on the Evo with the promise of longer flight times. Too many people were saying that 8 minutes was about the average flight time on the Skyjib. I am not keen of the DJI marketing strategy but it does appear that they do have actual engineers designing their equipment.

Droidworx from what I can tell really doesn't have a lot of r&d put into it. It looks just like pretty common carbon tubes and plates and a bit of aluminum thrown in. I am intrigued by the DJI proprietary arm design and quick release systems although I am very aware of their lack of customer service and past failures but purely from a technical standpoint they are light years ahead of Droidworx. Long story short I bought the new evo and am waiting for the new Evo gimbal.
