Hello from South Africa

I am very pleased to have found this site. To date my experience is limited to a micro quad which I find totally addictive. My latest challenge is taking it out in too much wind and trying to keep it in the air.

Like most people here, I’m keen to learn all I can about multi rotor flying platforms. My original interest was (and still is) for an inexpensive, safe, easy to fly vehicle to carry a GoPro Hero3 Black to take both video and stills. However, I now have another possible use monitoring wildlife that will require a vehicle to fly long range – up to a kilometre or more if possible and to stay in the air for prolonged periods.

I have heard of a guy flying with goggles, seeing only what his GoPro sees, who lost control of his quad when it flew out of range over 2 kilometres away, so maybe it’s possible.

Thanks for the opportunity to pick your brains.

Jack
