Hey Gunny,
Welcome. I'm also pretty new to this but I thought I'd let you know that there is a fairly big RC event in Mansfield Mass this weekend. It's probably about two and a half hours away from you. http://nehelicrew.com/

Not sure if you're up for the drive or not but it looks like it'll be pretty interesting. Ken (RTRyder) will be giving a presentation on multirotors on Friday and Saturday.
