HDMI to Composite for Nex5n

I have a CineStar6 frame with a AV130 and its working great. I have a downlink working but it requires a HDMI to Composite board (took the board out of the metal box) and its still fairly large and bulky. I was wondering if you guys have found something smaller?

Here is a pic of it attached to my copter...

gonna be tough as you are doing digital to analog conversion and stripping out the hdcp from the hdmi source.. the so called analog loop hole that hollywood has been so keen to get rid of.
i take it there are no analog outs on the recorder?
if not it might be easier to use a smaller fpv only cam for the downlink?

The Nex5 (mirror-less dslr) only has an HDMI output. I have a smaller fpv SN555 camera but I really like to see the camera settings and what is in frame when I snap off photos and also it allows me to confirm that a picture was taken and I see a preview of it for a few seconds. When doing just pure video the small camera is fine.

Just wondering if there is a smaller board out there?

Thanks for your reply mailman35.

I have the same setup you have. Av130 nex5n and the hdmi converter but I ultimately decided to just use a Sony 600 FPV cam as the cables, separate voltage, and converter drove me nuts.

Do you find that its hard to tell what is truly in the shot when using the FPV cam? Also where do you attach the FPV camera? Do you just velcro strip around the lens of the nex5?

Same bulky board I'm using in the picture I have posted above. Looking for something smaller. Thanks though. I thought about removing the connectors but that doesn't do much for me.

What I have works just wanted to see if people found a smaller solution. I've only found 3 different converter designs then they just rebadge them with various brand names. I guess this isn't really a product that sells much so I doubt much research goes into it to make it smaller.

Very true, I did not find any smaller device.
the other option would be to use an additional FPV camera, which is a little smaller but of course you loose the view from the main camera.

There's no digital signal protection on non-copyright sources.. i.e. your own camera.

for me, with an AV130 and GH2, I'm having trouble seeing how I can even get a right angle HDMI connector into gap between the camera and mount.

I mounted the cam right un der the Av130 camera tray. Of course it isnt as nice as having the actual view of the camera but i think it is enough for rough framing. Perhaps if I found that cable you have there I might have tried making it work with the board but all I could find was a 3' hdmi cable.

Thanks for the cable idea. I'll try it.

I too use a separate fpv camera, tried following a mt biker going 50mph downhill the other day. It was tough to keep him in the frame. But I need to practice on something slower :)
