GPS, Magnetic Storms, and Planetary K-Index

This is just an FYI to all (although I'm sure the vets and cracks attending this forum already know about this).

I was monitoring a YouTube video today where someone was complaining about yet another Phantom flyaway incident. While reading through all the comments, I noticed one person had lamented that the very least the pilot could do is prepare ahead of time to help reduce the chances of fly-away, which in many cases seems to be the GPS essentially going haywire.

He posted a link to a NOAA site I was not aware of that gives daily reports of planetary K-Index. There is also a modest two-day forecast. I found this intriguing in at least the MR pilot can arm him/herself with information that may have direct effects and consequences to the successful operation of the compass/GPS on any MR, not just DJI products.

Just something to think about, folks. There is also an App I discovered today called "Magnetic Storms" that essentially collates and replays the NOAA data and graphs. It's available for the iPhone and I assume Android as well.

he does really good space weather updates every day first thing in the morning so you can know what the suns been up to and if theres anything you need to be worried about.
