GPS Dead ...

Droidworx AD6HL with WKM. I was trying to work on the dreaded "toilet-bowling" behavior when switching on GPS. I saw a post where a user said he eliminated it by recalibrating his compass before each flight. I was skeptical, but did the recalibration per the instructions and had no trouble. ... that is, until I tried to get a GPS lock. Left the thing in an open parking lot with clear view of sky and no lock even after more than 30 minutes. Checked all the connectors and did the re-calibration again. Still no GPS. I opened the Groundstation software (900mhz downlink) and it handshakes just fine BUT it shows the bird at 000000/000000 lat / long (somehwere in the Atlantic Ocean ---). Reported to my dealer John Wood and DJI and was pleased that they both got back to me quickly and asked for photos of my mounting. Nothing further yet so I figured I'd ask whether anybody else had a working GPS go dead like this.

Yes, something is a miss with the GPS most likely.

I would try unplugging the Data Link and try one last time then if the same problem just have your dealer pull a GPS module out of stock and send it to you to test.

UPDATE: I'm really pleased to report that I got immediate responses from both DJI and John Wood of RcHobbyHelicopter.com and they arranged for John to replace my GPS/Compass unit once I ran some tests to verify the unit wasn't working. I'm VERY happy with the responsiveness of both DJI and John.

is it possible the solar flares on the news had anything to do with it?

John does have pretty good service

I've got a good friend with Nasa who is part of the SDO solar mission that has been providing some truly incredible photos and data over the past year. He confirmed that we may see some solar-related effects but that in this case the complete loss of signal along with the ability to lock GPS on our iPhones and Garmins eliminates any consideration of Mr. Sol as the culprit here.
