Hi all; just checking on the plans for an antenna tracking system or getting data out of the XBee to a base station? Been wondering about those for a long time. Thanks!
In the meantime, check ImmersionRC and their TinyTelemetry and Antenna Tracker. The TinyT is just a few grams, and it sends all sorts of information via your video transmitter's audio channel to the tracker where it drives two servos for heading and azimuth (pan and tilt in camera gimbal terms).
Antenna trackers use the GPS data from the aircraft's down link and keep the antenna pointing at the airplane as it flies around giving you more range and better picture with less static. An antenna tracker grab on the ground your GPS coordinates and move the antenna pan and axis to aim your vehicle position.
Just to chuck in another option. EagleTree's "EagleEye's". It uses the video feed from the aircraft to implant all GPS info from its OSD module on the aircraft. The video feed on the ground from the video Rx then goes via Eagleeyes which picks up on the injected code and translates that into tracker movements. Clever stuff, and one of the few out of the box systems that works well. This pretty much covers everything http://www.eagletreesystems.com/OSD/eagleeyes.htm
