Gaui Crane III Gimbal

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with either the Gaui Crane II or Crane III. There's a good chance I'll be picking up the Crane III tomorrow so just checking to see if I'll be the guinea pig for this gimbal or if anyone has any opinions on it.

Thanks!

I got mine two days ago and the Quality of the build is TOP, nothing shaky and very solid. They are intended to be used on the GAUI 500X Quadrocopter with their Flight Control GU-INS. I tried it on my 500X and did some FPV quickies...and it was a lot better than with the Alware 3-Axis Pro V2 I had mounted before. The Alware was rattling and shaking like a dog's tail. The mounting is set up to be a direct fit to the 500X but should not be a problem to mount it on anything else. How it performes on a "real" copter with a different stabilization I don't know at the moment...

GAUI is very well known for their Multirotor Helis and have a very good reputation.

There is another thread about this Gimbal:

Yes....everything in one little box (including gimbal stabi)... exept the GPS which you buy extra or all together as a set. Atti and position hold (with GPS) included.
The beauty of this 500X + GU-INS to me is: You set that thing up once...and then you just fly and fly. You can just fold the arms up (without gimbal of corse) and put it in the little bag it comes with. Only problem is, it works only up to 4 Motors (Quatro)

Have a look at the manual...nothing complicated there: http://www.globalrchobby.com.au/PDF's/Gaui GU-INS Manual (031211).pdf

Hi flitelab

Didn't have to much time for extensive testing. Took the Alware 3-Axis Pro V2 off the 500X and bolted the Crane on and connected it to the GU-INS gimbal ports (pan axis straight to the Rx) ...straight and perfect fit. I did a few FPV-flights (sorry...no recording) but my impression was that the performance is a lot better due to its very rigid construction...no rattling around. Since I do not plan to hook it to my Cinestar 8 or my S800, I won't be able to tell how it performes with any other FC than the GU-INS.

PS: On the Crane /500X setup I am using a FlyCamOne HD, so I also can't tell you how the Crane performes with a heavier camera.

...hope this helped

Chris

How much weight can you lift with one of these?

Special engineered design provides more precise and stable movement while filming.
Highly precise moving platform, track design with double bearings makes it perform extremely smooth.
Ultra light weight and rigid design.
Two servos are included.
