FPV Spanky on the Rocks

Hi All,
We got permission to fly around a local active gravel quarry, no workers were on site during the weekend so we had the opportunity to check it out and have a fly around the all the equipment.

This video was filmed back in September while the weather had a break from the rain and wind. The site is used to create fine gravel and aggregate for local businesses and has been active many decades.

The location would be so good to have Mini FPV Quad races around all the equipment, there is even a track behind this location that would be an excellent advanced course for the later races with a 50meter high incline on the straight.

Here are some Photo's taken by my spotter on this day...
The area was covered in fine dust...

Which made for some great trails of dust when at speed...

After the small tumble into the stinging nettles I realised a few magnets had come loose in the ZMR1804 motors which can be easily fixed with super glue...

Lucky I had the tools with me...

Use No.9999 for zip ties, as a spreader for superglue. Once I found the magnet, just remove it and clean the section where it sits and then apply a thin layer of superglue...

After that, rebuild the motor and its back in the air for another attempt...

A rare spot, a caged Spanky...

No one like to see these animals caged, they should be allowed to roam free among the trees...

That is nice flying. Hat off to you!
Don't you have some glitches of loss of video when flying behind those trucks? I can see you are on FS 5.8.

Thanks for your comments Hood49 ;)

As you can see in the pics above I use a custom pair of Skew Planar antenna on both the vTx and vRx, most say only use 3 lobes on the vTx, so it would be Skew Planar on the vRx (4lobes) and Cloverleaf (3lobes) on the vTx but I find that's not as good as both being Skews, this gives me excellent video reception and allows the signal to bounce around. I very rarely if ever get video drop outs while flying close proximity, the RC connection drops before the video I find.

I am flying with the pinwheel both sides and an 600mw immersionRC. (http://www.fpv4ever.com/en/antennas-and-connectors/884-pinwheel-58ghz-antenna.html). Not too good behind trees. But I guess that is 5.8
I think a lot has to do with the material they are made out of aswell, the antenna I use are made from KSR200 which has 0.865dB/m attenuation compared to most that use something like RG142 which has about 1.11dB/m attenuation. Also I make sure if I do go behind an object which blocks the LOS between me and the quad then I make sure I have plenty of forward momentum in a direction I know I wont hit anything so I can push past any flickering vision.
