FPV Spanky Magic Smoke Edition

Hi All,
Here we have the destruction of a 12a KISS ESC.

The last flight done with this quad was my last video the FPV racing in Cornwall, the quad did so well that day as my backup quad and was landed at the end of the day in full working order.

This day, I connected the Lipo to the quad, made sure the FC had initialised, checked with my spotter all was clear to take off, armed the quad and then started a slow throttle up to bring me to hover. On the throttle up I got a bright flash of white light in the goggles, I take them off straight away to be met by a smoking Spanky 6 billowing a purple tinted smoke. Best course of action was to disconnect the Lipo ASAP and check for flames.

I emailed Flydrino (seller of KISS ESCs) in the evening and within 10 days I had the replacement ready to go back on the quad.

Dude no offense but the soldering job is TERRIBLE. That could have lead to you issue. I'd really try to be more precise with the application of soldier and make sure each soldier joint is not close to the next. You will have a lot more of these issues if the soldiering continues to be done like this!

Sorry Dude a bit of offence taken but always happy to hear new input ;-) these KISS escs are tiny which was a challenge on the eyes to solder.
This condition in the photo is after the ESC had already cooked resulting in the FET, two motor wires and the SMD's on the other side of the board to desolder and move, I know my solder is not perfect but judging it after this would be like looking at the front of a car after a head on crash and saying you don't like the shape of the front as if it was designed like that lol still definitely plenty of room for improvement
